25 days! Money Exchange
Only 25 more days until departure. Be sure to check this blog often. We will posting some very important information over the next view weeks. The last 15 days leading into the mission we will be blogging about a daily prayer focus.
We have been getting many questions about currency exchange. Yesterday we checked at an international airport about exchanging money. The rate they gave us we 1.43 USD to buy 1.00 Euro. After a conversation with the man at the exchange booth, he said it would be best to check with your local bank. At Chase bank today they gave us a rate of 1.34 USD to buy 1.00 Euro. Banks can take up to 7 days to order your money. If the bank is the choice you make then please allow yourself enough time to exchange the money.
Here is a link for you to check out other options when it comes to your spending money. Currency Exchange

What to wear and when?
Hey AYC'ers we have had many questions about what to wear and how to pack. during the Mission. So here is your answer.
1. Make sure you go overboard in modesty! Many times missionaries spend years to teach and establish as standard of modesty in the congregation. We do not give an impression to the saints who attend the services in Waterford that we do not believe in what Missionary and Sis. Potter teach. We will have church services Wednesday-Friday night. The dress for these services are business casual. Then for the Sunday service we will be dressing up. This will be our only dressy service.
1a. Modesty defined for this trip is the following:
- No capped sleeves for the duration of this mission
- All young ladies must wear skirts that go past their knees
- All young men are to wear long pants
- All young men are required to wear t-shirts or long sleeves
Thank you in advance for following our respectful dress code. Please do not put the AYC staff in a position that we have to confront you on your dress and attire.
2. What to wear in Paris? The temperature is going to be very hot and we are going to be walking several miles. Dress lite and wear comfortable shoes. We recommend you bring a backpack with you to Paris perhaps packed with sunscreen, extra set of clothes and for the guys bring some AXE so you do not smell up the bus :)! You may want to pack some snacks for the Paris trip because we will not be stopping to eat until late afternoon.
3. What do we wear in Poland? You can dress casual the entire time we are in Poland.
4. Both places that we are staying in Waterford and in Krakow have washing machines. However they usually do not have a dryer. You will have to hang your clothes out to dry. You may want to bring a box of Tide soap to do laundry while you are on the mission.
5. How big and how much can my carry on luggage weigh? The following has been taken directly from the Ryanair web page. 21 in x 15 in x 7.87 in represents the cm to in. 10 Kg is equal to 22 lbs. Please weigh and measure your carry on before you leave. Ryanair will charge you or make you leave your bags behind if you do not meet these requirements.
"Strictly one item of cabin baggage per passenger (excluding infants) weighing up to 10kg with maximum dimensions of 55cm x 40cm x 20cm is permitted. (handbag, briefcase, laptop, shop purchases, camera etc.) must be carried in your 1 permitted piece of cabin baggage.
Extra/oversized cabin baggage will be refused at the boarding gate, or where available, placed in the hold of the aircraft for a fee of £50/€50. If you are unsure, check at the Bag Drop desk before going through security.
Smaller musical items such as a guitar, violin or viola which exceed our cabin baggage dimensions may be carried in the cabin if a seat for it has been reserved and the appropriate fare paid. There is no checked or cabin baggage allowance associated with the purchase of an extra seat. To book an extra seat for an item the word "ITEM SEAT" must be entered as the surname and "EXTRA" must be entered at the first name. EXTRA ITEM SEAT will then be displayed on the reservation and online boarding pass. The accompanying passenger's travel document details must be entered during the online check- in process. Spanish Resident and Large Family Discount is not applicable on EXTRA seats."
6. What about my checked luggage what can it weigh? We prepaid for each person to check one piece of luggage on the Ryanair flights. The weight we paid for is 15kg which comes to 33 lbs. Again Ryanair will not allow you to be 1kg over weight. They usually charge you up to 100.0 USD if you are over weight. Please weigh your bags before you go. Do not forget to save room for gifts that you want to bring home.
We will be updating the blog more often please continue to check back regularly.
